Beautiful set of increasingly scarce plates by Eric Leaper of Newlyn pottery (Cornwall 1954-1980). These are Leaper's Splash Plates, unique pieces created using hazardous chemicals (including which create a crystalline effect) and psychedelic glazes, from the 1960s / 1970s. The plates measure 18 cm wide, and the sandwich tray is 35.5 x 21.5 cm wide. All pieces are clearly signed Leaper Newlyn. The plates are in fabulous condition, alas the sandwich plate has three points of damage. One old chip which has been painted black, a chip next to that with outside crack running approx. 2 cm down from the side almost to the base, and an end nibble which has caused an area of glaze to flake off. It is still solid, and damaged areas could be painted or even felt tipped over, and fine to use carefully, or just decoratively. £40 is good value for the plates alone, and consider the sandwich plate for free.
