1936 BERLIN SUMMER OLYMPICS DISCUS

Description

This is a 1936 Summer Olympics discus.

I remember seeing this around the house when I was a kid. (I'm 60 now)

We even played with it with our friends to see who could throw it furthest on the back lawn (which I suppose is what it was intended for!)

You are welcome to come and have a look at it before the auction ends.

It may have come from an auction as part of a 'mystery' lot where you Bid without knowing what's in the box.

My dad used to go to these auctions when he worked away so I suspect that's how it ended up in our house.

It was in much better condition than it is now sadly.

I rediscovered the discus while emptying a derelict garden shed after my mum had died.

The discus has a significant amount of water damage as you can see in the pictures.

It would be nice if it could be restored but I'd rather not attempt it.

I've had it stored in a dry place for a few months and it seems to be dry now (it was wet when I found it)

I haven't done much research on it but you can clearly read the markings if you want to research it yourself.

It has the eagle and Olympic rings on the markings as can be found on other sporting memorabilia relating to this event in 1936.

It might possible that this discus was used at the historic 1936 Olympics in front of Hitler?

The discus measures 9inches in diameter.

This item is for collection only from Ls15 8hr as I DON'T post or use couriers and I can't throw it very far these days!
