Description

Home Manager – Children's Residential (Multi–Bed Home)

Salary: Up to GBP48,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Hours: Full–time, 35 hours per week (including some on–call and out–of–hours duties)

Are you an experienced and driven children's residential care professional ready to step into a leadership role where your impact truly matters?

I'm recruiting on behalf of a respected client seeking a Home Manager to lead a multi–bed residential children's home in Barnstaple, providing high–quality care to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). This is a rewarding opportunity to take ownership of a home, shape a dedicated team, and influence the lives of children who deserve the very best.

About the Role:

As the Home Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and regulatory compliance of the home. You'll work closely with the Responsible Individual and Senior Management Team to ensure the home not only meets but exceeds Ofsted standards, creating a safe, caring, and structured environment where children and young people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and develop your team to deliver outstanding, trauma–informed care

Maintain full compliance with Ofsted's Quality Standards and regulations

Write and manage the home's Statement of Purpose

Oversee referrals, admissions, and impact risk assessments

Ensure all children have up–to–date care and placement plans with clear outcomes

Support and supervise staff at all levels, fostering a culture of reflection and development

Maintain effective staff rotas, ensuring 24–hour cover and fair allocation of sleep–ins and on–call duties

Ensure accurate record–keeping, reporting, and regulatory documentation

Manage the home's finances responsibly, ensuring operational viability

Promote the home positively to external professionals, parents, and agencies

Maintain a high standard of health and safety across the property

Collaborate with the Responsible Individual, Regulation 33 visitor, and wider team to drive continual improvement

Contribute to the wider strategic development of the service and organisation

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Proven experience in managing or leading within a children's residential care setting

A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or working towards it

Sound knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted frameworks, and children's legislation

Strong leadership, communication, and decision–making skills

The ability to develop and motivate a team with integrity and professionalism

A positive, child–focused attitude and passion for achieving the best outcomes

A full UK driving licence

What's on Offer:

Competitive salary up to GBP48,000

Supportive senior leadership and development opportunities

Autonomy to shape a service that truly makes a difference

A chance to lead a motivated and caring team in a rewarding environment

This is more than a job – it's your opportunity to lead a service where children feel safe, respected, and given the best chance at a better future.
