Environmental Health Officer Facilities & Environment Belfast City Council Temporary Ongoing 37 Hours per Week Pay: 23.37 per hour

We are recruiting an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join Belfast City Council's Environmental Health Service on a temporary basis, providing cover within the Food Safety team.

About the Role

You will play a key role in improving the health and quality of life of people in Belfast through the efficient delivery of environmental health duties. Working under the guidance of a Senior Environmental Health Officer, you will carry out enforcement, investigative, educational and advisory work, while contributing to the wider objectives of the Environmental Health Service.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out enforcement, investigative, educational and advisory duties within your assigned area of workOrganise your workload to meet agreed targets and deliver a quality, customer–focused serviceLiaise proactively with public, private, voluntary and community organisationsProvide reports, records and statistical information as requiredKeep up to date with developments in your area of work through continuing professional developmentContribute to project work as directed by senior officersOccasionally work outside normal office hours, including providing cover for out–of–hours services such as the night–time noise serviceParticipate in training, induction and the council's recruitment and selection procedures as requiredWhat You'll Need

Full, current driving licence valid in NI and access to a car for official business (reasonable adjustments considered for applicants with disabilities)BSc/MSc in Environmental Health approved by CIEH, or equivalent qualification acceptable to the Environmental Health Registration BoardEHORB Certificate of Registration or EHP status with CIEH (or willingness to register within 18 months of appointment)Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with confident report writingGood knowledge of environmental health issuesAbility to plan, prioritise, and work independently to targetsStrong teamworking, decision–making, and customer care skillsCompetent IT skills, including standard office and specialist softwareDetails
