Band 5 RGN - Surgical Experience - Northern Ireland

Description

I am looking for a Band 5 Surgical Nurse for a line of work in Northern Ireland - Both days and nights. 37.5 hours per week.

The post holder will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care across the pre-operative, post-operative, and recovery phases.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical CareAssess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised patient careDeliver pre- and post-operative nursing careMonitor vital signs and recognise signs of deteriorationManage wounds, drains, catheters, and surgical sitesAdminister medications safely, including IV therapySupport pain management and recovery pathwaysMaintain accurate clinical documentationPatient SafetyEscalate concerns using NEWS2 / early warning systemsPrevent infection through adherence to IPC protocolsSafely manage deteriorating or complex surgical patientsParticipate in risk assessments and safeguardingCommunication & TeamworkWork collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, AHPs, and ward teamsProvide clear handovers and documentationSupport patients and families with information and reassuranceProfessional PracticeMaintain NMC registration and revalidationParticipate in training and competency developmentSupervise HCAs and studentsContribute to audits and quality improvementSkills & Knowledge Required Surgical nursing care
