🎸 Looking for a Country / Bluegrass Guitarist 🤠

Howdy!

I’m looking for a guitarist (acoustic or electric) who genuinely loves classic country, honky-tonk, and bluegrass to join Rex Hooper & the Gunsingers — a vintage country and Western band based in Glasgow.

We draw inspiration from the golden era of 1950s country and the dust-blown soundtracks of the old West. Think Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Marty Robbins, Ernest Tubb, Kitty Wells, and the high-lonesome sound of Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs.

We’ve got a strong lineup already (lap steel, double bass, drums, and me on rhythm and lead vocals), and we’re looking for the right guitarist to round it out — someone with taste, tone, and feel, who can serve the song and bring a bit of character to the sound.

🎶 What We’re Looking For:

A guitarist with a real love for classic country and bluegrass.

Acoustic flatpicking, or Telecaster twang all welcome.

Backing vocals a plus.

Must be based in or near Glasgow.

Weekly rehearsals — commitment and enthusiasm are key.

🎤 About Us:
I write and perform original songs as Rex Hooper, inspired by the sound and storytelling of mid-century Western music. We play pubs, clubs, local festivals, community events, and the occasional private show, with plans to gig more regularly.

This isn’t a cover band — it’s about heartbreak, porchlight ballads, and cowboy gospel. We’re making something authentic, warm, and rooted in the spirit of the old West.
