Yamaha BB714BS - Signed & Modded

Description

I'm selling my Yamaha Billy Sheehan BB714BS as I want a 6 string bass and this isn't getting used as much as my other 4 string basses.

This bass was designed by Yamaha Hollywood and Billy Sheehan. I bought this new May 2013 and never been out of the house as I can't gig due to illness (they stopped making these in 2011

It's great to play, but I wanted to make the controls the same as the Attitude bass. I added dual outputs on the side and rewired the bass. I did get stuck so I asked Fretronics to check it for me. I had one wire in the wrong place.

So it's now mono / stereo like the Attitude bass. Each pickup has its own output so you can run to 2 amps as Billy does, or use both outputs for recording.

There is a custom Hipshot Bass Extender key fitted. Hipshot don't make one which matches the other tuning keys, so I contacted Hipshot. They offered to take the Yamaha tuner and fit the Bass Extender key to that. That's what they do for Billy Sheehan. From the front the bass looks normal.

I switched the P pickup to a Dimarzio Model P, but left the neck pickup stock. The neck pickup isn't a simple swap and effectively, you'd need to fill in the cavity, re-rout for another pickup, and lose the chrome surround (or remake it) and I don't have the skills for that!!

The control cavity cover was signed by Billy Sheehan. singer Eric Martin and drummer Edu Cominato after the Barrowlands gig on the final Mr. Big tour. Edu only played with them for a month, as Nick D'Virgilio was booked to play other shows, but Edu was just immense.

The bass has stickers which are the same as those on his original Fender "Wife" P Bass. They are removable, there's no clearcoat over them.

The bass comes with it's own excellent gig bag, which carries Billy's signature, and also a DVD of the making of the bass.

I would do a swap for a 6 string of similar value. I can't put any funds towards any exchange. If you've got something you think fits the bill, just get in touch.

Price is o.n.o. The only ones I've seen for sale are in Japan. They have been made for 14 years and this is signed, has the Hipshot, the Attitude wiring and Dimarzio pickups.
