Description

Peerless Songbird in the relatively rare Cherry Red finish, in excellent condition. The guitar has hardly a few light scratches and dings and is honestly about as mint as a guitar of this age can be. I bought this used in 2013 and the serial number implies 2003 manufacture.

The Songbird is essentially a Casino / ES-330. A thin-line fully hollow body guitar made with laminate maple for the body and a mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, 2 P90 pickups with classic Gibson-style controls and a tune-o-matic/trapeze tailpiece combo.

Neck is fairly slim and reminiscent of a 60s Gibson profile. 24.75’’ scale length, 12’’ radius, 43mm nut width. Frets are in good condition.

All hardware, pickups etc are stock. The guitar has been recently set-up with flatwound 11s. These came with an acrylic see-through pickguard which I never liked, so I have removed it – it is stored in the case and can be reinstalled very easily if you prefer it on.

The maple on the top also has some beautiful figuring on the treble side down by the controls, it’s a great looking instrument.

Peerless used to be the contracted manufacturer for Epiphone back in the day, and they made the Epiphone Casino among other things. The Korean-made Casinos of the era are very highly regarded for their fit and finish, with many considering them superior to the later production models – you can see early 2000s Epiphone Casinos listed for rather obscene prices these days.

This is essentially the same exact guitar, made by the same people in the same factory as the Epiphones but with a different headstock to be sold under their own brand. The fit and finish is arguably better than most Epiphones I have seen (including Peerless-made ones) and the guitar comes with a very nice quality hard case.

The case has a little bit of a wear on the exterior but is still overall in very good condition.

Guitar can be viewed/picked up locally in Bristol or can be shipped securely anywhere in the UK.
