With the Gibson SG Standard you get a guitar that embodies the very essence of those groundbreaking instruments from the early 1960s, with those same sonic charateristics that helped make it such a hit.
Featuring a solid Mahogany body with a Heritage Cherry finish, a rounded Maple neck topped with a Rosewood fingerboard, and a pair of Gibson 490 humbucker pickups, this guitar offers you rock-solid stability and tone in abundance.
490 "Modern Classic" Pickups
Featuring the same tonal characteristics of those legendary Gibson PAF humbuckers, but have been modified to include a sligh increase in upperr mid-range response, and with wax potting to minimalise microphonic feedback.
These pickups are ideal for vintage blues, blues-rock, hard rock, heavy rock, rock rock, and more, and once heard are easy to fall in love with.
Tune-O-Matic
Originally designed by Ted McCarty in the early 1950s, the Tune-O-Matic (TOM) bridge quickly became a standard on Gibson guitars. Specially made to offer the maximum amount of transferrence between the guitar's strings and body, whilst offering pin-point intonation and superior tuning stability.
