1985 Marlin Sidewinder Gothic Stratocaster

Hailed as the best selling guitar in 1990s Britain, the Sidewinder is a true legend and one of the reasons Fender's Squier brand was forced to up its game in the 90s.

This is a rare early model, made in 1985 in Germany. Features include some rather lovely red detailing around the scratchplate and up the fretboard. The rather garish 'marlin' twelfth fret inlay of later models is absent on this guitar, in favour of the neater two dots.

It's a satisfyingly playable guitar. Nicely weighted, with three potent single coil pickups. The KKT locking tremolo (a great little unit for a guitar at this price) is functional. There's also some lovely lacquer checking to the colour-matched headstock.

This is a fabulous piece of affordable guitar heritage and still gives any affordable Strat a good run for its money.

This guitar is offered in good condition with only minor wear commensurate with forty or so years in the game. The frets are in great shape and it plays & sounds excellent. Tremolo arm is missing.

It has also been treated to a full String Theory service that includes strings, fretboard treatment, action setting, electrics check and a deep clean.
