HOURS: 08:30 - 16:30 Monday - Thursday, 08:00 - 16:00 Friday

SALARY: GBP19.38 p/hr

We are currently recruiting for an additional Tool Maker to join our team, responsible for making and repairing extrusion and injection mould tools, jigs and fixtures, along with troubleshooting extrusion and injection moulding equipment.

WHAT OUR TOOLMAKERS DO:

Diagnose and resolve tooling-related issues in the extrusion processIdentify wear, defects, and other technical problems affecting product quality or production efficiencyEnsure all extrusion tools and dies meet quality standards and are within tight specified tolerancesWork closely with the engineering team to optimize tool designsAssist with new product development by providing technical insight and tooling expertiseProactively suggest improvements to tooling designs and manufacturing techniques to improve production speed, reduce material waste, and increase tool longevityMaintain accurate records of tooling specifications, repairs, modifications, and tool performance dataTrouble shooting faults in the manufacturing process to determine whether there is a tooling problem requiring fix or repairRead and understand technical drawings to manufacture/make parts and tools for the extrusion facilities and injection mouldingUse manual workshop machinery and EDM machinery

WHAT WE NEED FROM OUR TOOLMAKERS:

Minimum Level 3 Qualification in Engineering/ Apprenticeship in Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experienceStrong understanding of plastic extrusion processes, tooling design, and the behaviour of various plastics during extrusionKnowledge of materials, particularly in relation to plastics used in extrusion processesProficiency in precision machining, including turning, milling, sparking and grindingStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose tooling or extrusion issuesAbility to read and interpret technical drawingsProven experience as a toolmaker in a plastic extrusion or similar manufacturing environmentExperience working with various extrusion tooling materials and an understanding of how different materials affect the extrusion process
