Location: Oxfordshire

Hours: 40 hours per week (some overtime/nights)

Vehicle: Provided for work use

Operating Unit: Highways

Reporting Line: Works Manager (Schemes)

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a temporary Site Agent to support infrastructure schemes predominantly within Oxfordshire. The Site Agent will manage all day-to-day site activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

The Site Agent will report to the Scheme Works Manager and will be responsible for planning and supervising both in-house and subcontracted resources.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Manage and supervise site schemes, ensuring work is carried out safely, on time, and within budget.

Efficiently organise labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources.

Liaise with stakeholders to facilitate scheme delivery, including designers, network management teams, local authorities, and community groups.

Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements, and safe systems of work (RAMS) are in place and updated as required.

Verify that all site personnel, both directly employed and subcontracted, are competent and have received necessary training for safe operations.

Review and develop subcontractors' RAMS to ensure comprehensive coverage of all site activities.

Deliver Toolbox Talks and support the supply chain in providing briefings.

Engage with the Commercial team and Project Manager to manage the commercial performance of projects, including early identification of changes.

Uphold the highest standards of Environment, Health, and Safety, actively promoting a culture of safety across all projects.

Skills & Experience:

Proven experience as a Site Agent or similar role within infrastructure or highways projects.

Strong knowledge of site management, HSEQ requirements, and safe working practices.

Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and subcontractors effectively.

Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills.

Qualifications / Certifications:

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent.

CSCS Card.

Additional Information:

Temporary position based in Oxfordshire.

Some overtime and night work may be required.
