An established and expanding civil, structural, and environmental engineering consultancy is seeking to appoint a Chartered Bridge Engineer with a minimum of seven years' relevant experience for a permanent role based in Leeds.

About the Role

As a Senior or Principal Bridge Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of bridge and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. You will work closely with teams across the UK and Ireland, contributing technical expertise and project leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Work on the design, assessment, and refurbishment of bridges and civil structures across various materials and forms, including superstructures, substructures, and articulations.

Participate in early project stages, including scoping, inspections, investigations, optioneering, and scheme design.

Undertake and manage detailed design work, including calculations, modelling, and drawing production.

Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, and reports.

Act as a signatory for technical approvals and design certificates where appropriate.

Represent the company in client meetings and liaise with stakeholders, contractors, and consultants.

Contribute to business development activities, including tendering and proposal preparation.

Manage project budgets and ensure quality and timely delivery.

Essential Requirements

Chartered Engineer status (ICE, IStructE, or equivalent).

Minimum of seven years' post-graduate experience in bridge or structural engineering.

Strong technical understanding of bridge design, assessment, and detailing.

Proven project management and financial monitoring skills.

Experience leading bridge-related projects or major project components.

Proficiency with structural analysis software, including finite element analysis.

In-depth knowledge of DMRB, Eurocodes, and other relevant UK bridge design standards.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing deadlines.

Attention to detail, flexibility, and a proactive attitude.

Desirable

Experience across multiple civil engineering disciplines (e.g., highways, geotechnics, rail, or water).

Experience within a multidisciplinary consultancy or design-build environment.
