Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Warwick - Hybrid (up to 2 days WFH) - GBP50,000-GBP60,000 DOE

VIQU is partnering with a long-established engineering organisation within the specialist vehicle sector to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to take technical ownership of complex, bespoke vehicle systems and play a key role in shaping the next generation of engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the concept development, detailed design, and delivery of chassis systems and mechanical components• Define engineering requirements, identify problems, and drive robust technical solutions• Act as Subject Matter Expert for assigned systems and lead technical delivery for projects• Set and oversee validation and verification activities for new and existing products• Communicate design intent and requirements to internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders• Support product launches and provide senior-level engineering assistance during production• Investigate field service issues, identify root causes, and implement practical corrective actions• Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers, sharing best practice and supporting development• Work to defined engineering processes, quality and environmental standards• Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team environment

Key Requirements

• HNC/HND/Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering (essential); BEng/MEng or Chartered status (desirable)• Significant relevant industry experience, ideally within yellow goods, heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, or bespoke engineered vehicles• Strong engineering fundamentals including stress, strain, fatigue, structures and material selection• Proficiency in CAD (Solid Edge preferred) and strong application of BS8888 drawing standards• Accurate BOM creation and strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, welding and pressed component design• Experience working with engineering change management processes• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team• Proactive, detail-oriented with strong communication skills
