About the roleOur Property department is a vital part of the Society's core operations and is the team is responsible for the overall Property strategy and for providing accommodation, physical security, health and safety, and facilities management, across the business. They are also responsible for maintaining and developing the property real estate, through acquisition and disposals, lifecycle asset management, building refurbishments, repairs and maintenance.The team are now looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to join them on a 12 months basis to not only to look after BAU, but also to support our Group transformation.The person in role will be responsible for the identification, planning, costing and third-party management of the Society's property repairs, maintenance and projects works as well as being accountable for all repairs, maintenance and project works carried out in a compliant way, with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements adhered to.They will be able to deliver to specification, on time and within budget, respond to emergency or changing needs of the Society as required and be a subject matter expert to give advice and support in managing contractors to SLA. A team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place.About youFor this opportunity you'll already be an experienced Building Surveyor with project management experience. You'll have a track record of defect diagnosis, successfully delivering capital projects, implementing Planned Preventative Maintenance works and Reactive Repairs, while mitigating risk, controlling costs, and reducing the environmental impact of all that we do.To be successful in this role it's essential you have: MRICS Chartered Building Surveying DegreeKnowledge in Landlord & Tenant law, statutory compliance and planned preventative maintenanceKnowledge of building construction (methods and materials) and defect diagnosis and emerging technologies.Experience of planning process, building regulation legislation and compliance mattersGood knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) RegulationsGood working knowledge of health & safety, fire, asbestos & other contributing factorsUnderstanding of basic Mechanical and Electrical ServicesExperience of managing and influencing a range internal and external stakeholders Experience of working with third party professionals and suppliers.
