Product/Process Engineer - Ceramic Core

Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a leading advanced manufacturing organisation in the recruitment of two Product Engineers to join their growing Ceramic Core Engineering team in Exeter.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving technical excellence within a highly specialised manufacturing environment, supporting both new and existing product lines while contributing to continuous improvement and operational performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Core Technical Manager, you will take technical ownership of a portfolio of ceramic core products, ensuring they meet stringent dimensional, quality, and production requirements.

You'll be instrumental in improving manufacturing processes, reducing scrap and rework, and supporting the introduction of more complex, high-performance products.

Key Responsibilities

Support the production of high-quality ceramic core productsDrive continuous improvement across product and process performanceConduct root cause analysis to reduce scrap and reworkImplement and maintain engineering best practicesEnsure products meet dimensional and process requirements for casting applicationsProduce qualification reports and analyse scrap/rework trendsWork closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve technical issuesManage individual product programmes and timelinesTroubleshoot manufacturing issues and support process optimisationContribute to cost reduction through process improvementsAbout You

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented engineer with a strong manufacturing or product engineering background.

You will ideally have:

4+ years' experience in a relevant engineering environmentDegree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in an Engineering disciplineExperience with tooling design and/or CAD / 3D modellingKnowledge of injection moulding and/or ceramics processingUnderstanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principlesFamiliarity with manufacturing systems and production processesStrong reporting and documentation skillsHigh level of IT literacy (e.g. Word, Excel, Project)Excellent communication and teamwork abilitiesStrong organisational skills and attention to detailSound judgement and problem-solving capabilityWhy Apply?
