Product Development Engineer

Location: Leamington Spa

Contract: Permanent

Role Summary

An exciting opportunity for a Product Development Engineer to join a product development team focused on the design, development, testing and compliance of gas, electrical and combined-fuel systems used within domestic appliances. The Product Development Engineer will support projects from concept through to production, translating product requirements into manufacturable solutions while ensuring compliance with global regulatory standards. This role combines hands-on engineering development with testing, verification and continuous improvement activities to support the successful launch of innovative products.

Role & Responsibilities

Develop gas, electrical and combined-fuel systems in collaboration with the wider project team.Support product development activities from concept through to production.Interpret marketing and product requirements into practical, manufacturable engineering solutions.Set up, monitor and conduct compliance testing activities.Create and deliver test plans against product requirements.Prepare products and supporting documentation for submission to relevant test authorities.Maintain internal design verification and testing methods in line with current approval standards.Produce detailed technical reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.Utilise test results and analysis to influence design decisions.Produce technical presentations and demonstration materials when required.Benchmark products against competitor offerings to support product improvement.Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing test times and improving efficiency.Lead internal development projects, managing timelines and deliverables.Work closely with design, process engineering, supply chain, production, quality and marketing teams.Ensure products comply with relevant legislation and standards across global markets. Requirements of the Role

HNC/HND qualification in an engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.Understanding of electrical and/or gas systems associated with domestic appliance development.Ability to analyse, interpret and report on testing data.Fault-finding experience.Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.Degree in an engineering discipline.Knowledge of standards frameworks including UL 858, ANSI Z21.1, AS/NZS 5601.1, AS/NZS 60335, EN 60335, EN 30, GAR, LVD, EMC and GPSR.Previous product testing and/or compliance experience.Ability to support the development, testing and validation activities expected of a Product Development Engineer.A proactive approach to technical problem solving and continuous improvement as a Product Development Engineer.
