Our client, a global leader in sustainability solutions, is seeking a Principal Highways Engineer to join their Transport Planning and Engineering team in Manchester. This permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver high-profile projects across various sectors, including residential, commercial, energy, infrastructure and the built environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical leadership and project management of highways and infrastructure projectsPreparation and review of General Arrangement Plans and highway designsDesign and delivery of S278/S171 Highway Schemes and S38 Highway Adoption SchemesDevelopment of highway layouts for new developments, including site access junctions, roundabouts and active travel measuresClient management, business development and proposal supportMentoring, coaching and supporting the development of junior engineers and techniciansCollaboration with drainage, lighting, infrastructure and environmental specialists across multidisciplinary projects

Job Requirements:

Substantial experience delivering UK highways and infrastructure projectsA degree in Civil Engineering or a related disciplineA strong track record of managing projects, clients and multidisciplinary teamsDemonstrable knowledge of UK highway design guidance, standards and approval processesExperience designing development-related highway infrastructure, including junctions and access arrangementsExperience preparing highway designs for S278/S171 and S38 schemesStrong project management, organisational, communication and stakeholder engagement skillsExperience mentoring, managing and developing engineers and techniciansStrong technical problem-solving, reporting and design capabilities
