Description
Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Sheffield
Salary: 30,000 - 40,000 per annum
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering company in Sheffield. This role is ideal for someone with experience designing material handling equipment, such as conveyors, lifting systems, automated handling solutions, or similar machinery.
Responsibilities:
Produce 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for material handling equipment.
Develop mechanical components, assemblies, and bespoke systems from concept to manufacture.
Carry out design calculations, materials selection, and engineering analysis.
Work closely with production, fabrication, and project teams to ensure manufacturability and functionality.
Support prototyping, testing, and continuous product improvement.
Maintain design documentation and adhere to revision control procedures.
Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to interpret specifications and deliver technical solutions.
Requirements:
Experience in the mechanical design of material handling equipment (essential).
Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
Good understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, steel structures, and machinery assembly.
Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
