Description

Dual Skilled Loco Fitter Electrical & Mechanical GBP47,000+ Permanent 4 on 4 off Leeds

Are you a Level 3 qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer looking for a permanent opportunity where you can develop your skills and work on some of the UK's most important rail assets?

We're recruiting Dual Skilled Loco Fitters to join an established engineering team in Leeds, working on the maintenance, examination and repair of locomotives used across intermodal and heavy haul operations.

This is a great opportunity for engineers who have a strong mechanical or electrical background and an understanding of the other discipline, with full training and development available.

The Role As a Dual Skilled Loco Fitter, you'll be responsible for keeping locomotives maintained, safe and operational.

Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out planned examinations and maintenance on locomotives

Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults

Supporting fault-finding and testing activities

Working on heavy engineering equipment and locomotive systems

Completing maintenance and repair work to a high standard

Following strict health & safety procedures and depot standards

Working as part of a skilled engineering team

Developing your knowledge across both mechanical and electrical disciplines

You'll primarily work on locomotives rather than wagons, making this a more technically skilled engineering position.

About You We're looking for a Level 3 qualified engineer with a background in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

You don't need to be equally skilled across both disciplines. We're particularly interested in engineers who have a strong core discipline but also have:

A Level 3 engineering qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Some understanding or exposure to the other discipline

A willingness to learn and develop your wider engineering skills

Experience working with heavy mechanical equipment is highly advantageous

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability

A positive attitude towards health & safety

Good communication skills and a strong team mentality

Backgrounds such as heavy mechanical engineering, HGV maintenance, military engineering, aviation or other heavy engineering environments could transfer particularly well into this role.

What's on Offer? Permanent position

Salary of GBP47,000+

4 on / 4 off shift pattern

12-hour shifts 7am to 7pm

Overtime and shift allowance available

Full industry and depot-specific training

Clear opportunities for progression

Additional competency-based training and development

Opportunity to progress towards senior technical and supervisory positions

Work within an experienced engineering team

Progression This isn't simply a role to keep you busy on the tools. There are established opportunities to progress through the engineering structure, including Duty Shift Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, PSE, Mobile Team and Level 5 Technician positions.

Additional competency and training modules are also available as you develop your technical capabilities.

Interested? If you're a qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer looking for a long-term career within a specialist engineering environment, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today to find out more.
