Instrumentation & Control Technician

Swansea 36,612 rising to 38,764 plus overtime & annual bonus Monday - Friday (flexible) 12-month FTC

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an Electrical / Instrument Technician to join the team at The Mond Nickel Refinery in Swansea, one of the world's leading nickel refineries owned and operated by Vale Europe.

Key Duties

Carry out routine and emergency electrical and instrumentation maintenance tasks safely and effectively.Respond promptly to plant breakdowns to minimise production downtime.Liaise with the CIE Coordinator regarding technical issues, progress updates, and job completion.Accurately record maintenance work and time in SAP, including follow-up actions.Work effectively across departments to achieve production and organisational goals.Support the training and guidance of apprentices within the team.Engage in continuous improvement, 5S practices, and problem-solving activities.Attend regular safety updates, toolbox talks, and departmental meetings.

Requirements

Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering.Ideally, 5 year's relevant industry experience (preferably within heavy industry or refining).Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in electrical and instrumentation systems.Strong electrical fault-finding knowledge is essential.Ability to work shifts and respond to call-ins when required.Good organisational and communication skills.Commitment to safe working practices and environmental standards.Preferred: HNC qualification and experience using maintenance systems such as SAP.

What We Offer

Base salary: 36,612 rising to 38,764 upon competency sign-off.Overtime paid at x1.75 premium rate.Annual company bonus.Days Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours with potential to move onto shift work (shift allowance 5,259 per annum pro rata).Full training and long-term career development.Support from Acorn's dedicated Swansea recruitment team.
