Head of Field Services
Location: Southeast Wales (Cardiff, Newport, Bridgend area)
Salary: 55,500 – 65,000 (DOE) + Benefits + Flexible Working + Healthcare (after 12 months) + Company Vehicle
About the Company
Our client is a fast–growing renewable energy engineering business providing technical and operational services for large–scale solar projects across the UK. They're a dynamic, sustainability–focused team delivering high–quality solar testing, inspection, and optimisation solutions.
The Role
We're looking for a motivated Head of Field Services to lead and grow a field operations team responsible for delivering solar testing and inspection services. This management role covers the full project cycle – from planning and resourcing to client delivery, reporting, and invoicing.
The position is mainly home–based, with occasional travel to sites across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Field Services team to deliver high–quality solar inspection and testing projects.
Oversee project scheduling, resource planning, and safety compliance.
Manage client communications and ensure service excellence.
Maintain testing equipment and ensure operational readiness.
Support business growth through technical input and proposal support.
Mentor and develop team members.
Requirements
Experience leading field–based technical or electrical teams (solar experience an advantage).
Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
Confident managing projects from start to finish.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Health & safety focused and hands–on approach.
Comfortable with occasional night or outdoor work.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Word).
Desirable
Electrical qualifications (C&G Inspection & Testing, 18th Edition, or APHV).
SMSTS or IOSH certification, CSCS card.
Experience with solar PV testing, thermography, or drones.
