Graduate Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant

Thatcham

If you're a graduate engineer looking to break into one of the most in-demand areas of civil engineering, this Graduate Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant role in Thatcham is a brilliant place to start. As a Graduate Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant, you will support senior engineers on projects ranging from small residential schemes to large mixed-use developments. You'll learn how to prepare Flood Risk Assessments, develop drainage strategies, and contribute to sustainable drainage design. This is a hands-on role offering excellent exposure to live projects, technical training, and clear professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies and SuDS design.

Support hydraulic modelling and drainage calculations using industry software.

Prepare drawings and technical outputs using AutoCAD and InfoDrainage.

Help compile planning submissions and technical reports.

Liaise with internal teams, clients and local authorities.

Contribute to site visits and data collection when required.

Maintain high standards of organisation and technical accuracy.

About You

Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline).

Enthusiastic about flood risk, drainage, sustainability and water engineering.

Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or drainage modelling software is desirable.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Keen to learn, proactive and motivated toward long-term development.
