The Role of the Fabricator / Welder

The Fabricator / Welder will carry out fabrication, welding and maintenance across heavy industrial plant and bulk handling equipment.

Fabrication and welding of structural components, platforms, walkways and handrailsRepair and manufacture of loading shovel buckets and plant componentsCutting out and replacing floors, sides and worn sections of equipmentMeasuring, marking out and producing components from drawingsWorking on conveyors, elevators, pipework and associated plantUse of MIG and Stick welding, plasma cutting and oxy fuel burning equipmentSupporting maintenance and breakdown activities across siteWorking at height and within a heavy industrial environment

Requirements of the Fabricator / Welder

Essential:

Minimum Level 3 qualification in Fabrication and WeldingAt least 3 years experience in a heavy industrial environmentStrong experience in MIG and Stick (MMA) weldingCompetent in basic fabrication, marking out and reading drawingsExperience working with carbon steel and pipeworkComfortable working at heightGood understanding of structural and plantbased fabricationMust be flexible to work occasional weekends in line with operational requirements

Desirable:

Welding codings (beneficial)Experience in plating and heavy fabricationBackground in quarrying, oil & gas, mining or similar industriesExperience with conveyors, elevators and bulk handling systemsSlinging, rigging or overhead crane experienceIPAF or other plant tickets
