Description

Electrical Project Engineer - Water

Location: Tonbridge

Salary: Up to GBP55,000 per annum + benefits

Join a leading Tier One contractor delivering major clean water infrastructure projects for South East Water. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of electrical engineering works across a range of clean water schemes, supporting project, construction, and design teams on essential improvement programmes across the South East.

Whether you are an established Electrical Project Engineer or an experienced Electrical Engineer ready to step into a more delivery-focused role, this position offers long-term stability, strong career progression, and structured professional development.

Why this role stands out

You'll be central to delivering South East Water's capital programme, contributing to clean water network upgrades, resilience schemes, and treatment improvements across the region. Working on complex electrical and process-related engineering projects, you'll gain exposure across design coordination, procurement, cost control, programme management, and client engagement - with full support for ongoing growth and training.

With hybrid working, a strong pipeline of projects, and involvement in multi-million-pound water treatment schemes, this is a highly rewarding engineering opportunity in a secure and expanding sector.

What you'll be doing

Supporting the Project Manager in coordinating electrical design, installation, and procurement activities.

Ensuring all electrical information is issued on time to support construction, commissioning, and project handover.

Monitoring and controlling project costs, ensuring compliance with tender allowances or agreed variations.

Preparing and submitting applications for payment on time.

Contributing to contract reviews, monthly forecasting, and reporting.

Building and maintaining strong working relationships with South East Water and wider stakeholders.

Assisting with the development and maintenance of project delivery plans and strategies.

Supporting the production of electrical contract programmes, updates, and progress reports.

Providing information and support for O&M manuals and close-out documentation.

Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams on electrical design, installation, and technical queries.

Monitoring subcontractor performance, quality, and compliance.

Ensuring accurate documentation, filing systems, and governance are maintained.

Evaluating innovative electrical solutions and supporting safe, efficient design development.

Identifying and addressing risks and opportunities on a monthly basis.

Ensuring electrical designs and installations are safe to construct, commission, and operate.

Supporting commissioning activities and ensuring all electrical works meet project and regulatory standards.

Taking responsibility for your own CPD and keeping up to date with industry innovations and standards.

What you'll bring

Strong electrical engineering background within water, wastewater, utilities, industrial, or process environments.

Demonstrable experience delivering electrical installation or engineering works (e.g., MCCs, LV systems, instrumentation, control panels, pumping systems).

Understanding of NEC contracts and contract management processes.

Knowledge of CDM regulations, site safety requirements, and general construction practices.

Experience supporting commissioning activities is desirable.

Qualifications
