Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Location: Tamworth Salary: up to GBP60,000 p/aHours: Monday - Friday 07:45 - 16:30

About the Company We are a well-established UK-based engineering organisation specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke automation, special purpose machinery, and advanced manufacturing solutions. The Role We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to provide electrical controls design, development, and support for special purpose, automation, and materials handling equipment. This role will work on projects and product lines, contributing to the concept, design, build, and ongoing support of complex electro-mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop electrical systems for bespoke automation and materials handling equipment, ensuring compliance with project requirements, cost targets, and schedules.Create electrical schematics, control panels, and associated documentation using EPLAN Electric P8, including detailed Bills of Materials.Ensure designs are reliable, maintainable, and assembly-friendly.Conduct fault finding and root cause analysis during design, build, commissioning, and support phases.Support standardization efforts to improve efficiency across mechanical design.Maintain knowledge of relevant UK, European, and international legislation.Prepare technical documentation to support machine design, build, installation, and commissioning, including technical risk assessments, recommended spares, and maintenance guidance.Collaborate effectively with project teams, suppliers, and sub-contractors, contributing to design reviews and progress discussions.About You:

Create clear technical reports, documentation, and manuals to support electrical build and commissioning.Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering (or equivalent experience).Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in electrical design engineering.Hands-on experience designing electro-mechanical systems in industrial, automotive, or aerospace environments.Strong systems-level understanding with consideration for mechanical design, reliability, and maintenance.Expertise in EPLAN Electric P8 for electrical schematic design.Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic system control.Ability to generate concepts and detailed designs including wiring schematics and panel layouts.
