Control Engineer - Siemens Smart Infrastructure

Siemens Smart Infrastructure is looking for a Control Engineer to join our team supporting the development and modernisation of the UK's electricity transmission and distribution network.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering smarter, more resilient energy infrastructure for the future.

Location: This role is based in Hebburn (near Newcastle upon Tyne), with a hybrid working pattern (approximately 70% office/home working and 30% travel to customer sites).

What you'll be doing

Depending on your level of experience, you will: Support or lead the design and delivery of control engineering solutions for electrical networks Produce and review technical documentation (e.g. functional design specifications, I/O schedules) Configure and test control systems and communication networks Support factory and site testing activities (FAT/SAT) Ensure solutions meet relevant standards and customer requirements For more experienced candidates, you may also: Provide technical leadership and contribute to design reviews Support tendering and project planning activities Mentor and support the development of early-career engineers What we're looking for

We're interested in hearing from people with a passion for control engineering and infrastructure systems.

Ideally you'll have: Experience in control, automation, or SCADA systems Exposure to the electricity transmission and distribution industry (or a similar regulated environment) A qualification in Electrical Engineering (e.g. HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent experience) It's a plus if you have experience with: Communication protocols and network configuration Medium to large-scale control systems Siemens SICAM or similar platforms For senior-level roles, we would also expect an interest in technical leadership and mentoring.
