Description

Overview of Business

We are partnered with a leading UK housebuilder to appoint a Claims Surveyor into its Building Safety claims function.

The team is responsible for recovering costs associated with historic building defects across a substantial residential portfolio. This role will support a live workstream of structural-design claims, with several matters progressing through negotiation, mediation and litigation.

Job description

Reporting into the Building Safety claims team, you will play a key role in preparing and coordinating the commercial evidence needed to support defect-recovery claims.

You will work across technical, commercial, finance and legal teams to gather cost information, prepare quantum documentation and support the progression of claims from initial assessment through to settlement or litigation.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveying or claims professional who is comfortable taking ownership in a complex, fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and coordinate quantum packs and commercial documentation for defect-remediation claims. Gather, analyse and present cost information to support recovery activity. Draft correspondence and maintain accurate reporting across the claims portfolio. Work closely with technical, finance, commercial and legal stakeholders. Support negotiations, mediation and litigation-related activity. Coordinate information and evidence from multiple internal teams and external parties. Assist with the management of a pipeline of building-safety and structural-defect claims. Take ownership of workstreams while ensuring established claims processes and systems are followed. Essential experience

Experience within a claims consultancy, PQS practice, main contractor, major developer or in-house building-safety/remediation team. Quantity Surveying background; MRICS status is desirable. Experience preparing or coordinating quantum packs, commercial claims or remediation-cost information. A good understanding of construction claims and the broader legal process, including negotiation, mediation and litigation. Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, commercial, finance and legal functions. Organised, commercially astute and comfortable managing detailed information across several live matters. Suitable for a junior-to-intermediate level professional who can work independently and is keen to take on responsibility. Benefits
