Description

Civil Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Civil Engineer to join a growing team based in Oxford. This role offers exposure to a broad range of projects, primarily within the residential development sector, including single dwellings, apartment blocks, and multi-unit sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the civil engineering design process across a variety of residential infrastructure projects.

Design key elements such as SuDS drainage systems, road build-ups, and hard landscaping.

Coordinate with regulatory and statutory authorities including water utilities, highways departments, local planning bodies, and environmental agencies.

Ensure the consistency and high quality of technical outputs such as drawings, reports, and specifications.

Attend and contribute to design and site meetings, and conduct site inspections as needed.

Deliver work within agreed project budgets and timelines.

Provide oversight and technical management of infrastructure design aspects, reporting directly to senior leadership.

Support junior team members through mentoring, training, and skills development.

Maintain strong client relationships by delivering a responsive, reliable, and professional service to encourage repeat business.

Candidate Requirements:

Experience working with guidance such as Sewers for Adoption (7th Edition), CIRIA SuDS Manual, NPPF, and DMRB/SHW.

Proficient in software including FLOW, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Vehicle Tracking.

Strong communication, report writing, and numerical skills.

Ability to develop fee proposals based on estimated work hours.

Commercially aware with the ability to lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians.

Skilled in the design of highways, access roads, and infrastructure including drainage, road geometry, earthworks, pavements, and underground services.

Extensive knowledge of drainage systems, including piped and SuDS-based designs.

Experience preparing contract drawings and specifications, and negotiating legal agreements under Sections 38, 278, 104, and 106.

Capability to forecast and manage resource needs across multiple projects.

Business development experience is desirable to help grow the civil engineering offering within the firm.
