Description

Assistant Geotechnical Engineer

You will be stepping into an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer role that puts your early-career experience to work on real projects, with real responsibility and genuine support to help you progress. If you're an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer with experience and you want to build strong foundations for your career in a respected consultancy environment, this opportunity in Newcastle is designed with you in mind.

You will be joining a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy where your development actually matters. As an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer, you will be supported by senior engineers, exposed to a wide range of ground engineering projects and encouraged to grow both technically and professionally from day one.

You will be working for a consultancy with a strong presence across the UK and a particularly solid pipeline of work in the North East. The team is known for its collaborative culture, high technical standards and commitment to developing early-career engineers. You will be valued for your contribution, not just treated as an extra pair of hands.

In this Assistant Geotechnical Engineer position, you will be doing the following as part of your day-to-day work:

You will be assisting with geotechnical site investigations, including logging soils and rock

You will be supporting the design and delivery of geotechnical solutions for infrastructure and development projects

You will be analysing ground investigation data and contributing to interpretative reports

You will be working closely with senior engineers to develop your technical understanding

You will be attending site visits across the region and liaising with contractors and clients

You will be building a solid grounding in industry standards, best practice and health & safety

To be successful as an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer, you will need:

You will have 1-2 years' experience in a geotechnical or ground engineering role

You will hold a degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline

You will have some experience of site investigations and report writing

You will be keen to learn, proactive and enthusiastic about developing your career

You will have good communication skills and be comfortable working as part of a team

You will ideally hold a full UK driving licence

You will be based in Newcastle. Flexible working options are available, and you will benefit from a clear development pathway with structured mentoring to help you progress from Assistant Geotechnical Engineer level and beyond.
