The Company

An established electronics manufacturing environment is looking to add an experienced SMT Operator to its production team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of electronic assemblies within a structured, quality-driven setting.

The Role

The SMT Operator will be responsible for supporting surface mount production activities, ensuring assemblies are built accurately and efficiently in line with documented processes and quality standards. The role involves operating and maintaining SMT equipment while contributing to continuous improvement across the production line.

Key Responsibilities

* Set up and operate SMT production equipment in line with approved process documentation.

* Assemble electronic products to defined workmanship and quality standards.

* Review build instructions prior to production and raise any discrepancies or improvement suggestions.

* Ensure SMT processes are followed consistently to achieve repeatable, high-quality results.

* Operate stencil printers, reflow ovens, and associated SMT line equipment.

* Load, verify, and adjust placement programs as required.

* Carry out routine maintenance tasks on SMT equipment.

* Manage solder paste handling and storage in line with best practice.

* Handle moisture-sensitive components correctly and in accordance with procedures.

* Communicate any production issues, delays, or risks to supervision in a timely manner.

* Work in line with quality management systems and internal procedures at all times.

The Candidate

Previous experience working as an SMT Operator within an electronics manufacturing environment.

Familiar with SMT machine setup, pre-kitting, and line changeovers.

Experience operating stencil printers and reflow ovens.

Able to load, check, and adjust placement programs on SMT lines.

Comfortable carrying out basic maintenance and fault-finding on SMT equipment.

Knowledge of solder paste control and moisture-sensitive device handling.

IPC-A-610 certification or strong working knowledge of the standard.

Methodical, quality-focused, and able to follow detailed processes. xjnqpsq

The Package

Salary in the region of £25,000 – £33,000, dependent on experience.
