1999 V DUCATI 748 SPS 748CC - COLLECTOR BIKE - TERMI EXHAUST

Description

1999 (V-Reg) Ducati 748 SPS - 20,576km (12,785 Miles) - Rare Homologation Special - Modern Classic

This 1999 748 SPS has covered just 20,576km (approximately 12,785 miles) and is a particularly interesting example of one of Ducatis most desirable 1990s superbikes. The SPS is a much more special machine than the standard 748, with its racing heritage, upgraded specification and unmistakable Ducati styling.

The 748 SPS was developed as a homologation special for racing, taking the already impressive 748 and giving it a more focused specification. At its heart is the 748cc Desmoquattro L-twin engine, with revised internals and a higher performance setup than the standard model. Its an engine that loves to be worked through the rev range, delivering that distinctive Ducati V-twin character and a wonderfully involving riding experience.

One of the biggest attractions of the SPS is its upgraded chassis and suspension. With Ohlins rear suspension, fully adjustable Showa front forks and Brembo brakes, it was a serious piece of equipment in its day and still offers an incredibly rewarding ride. The lightweight construction and compact dimensions give the 748 a beautifully balanced feel, particularly on flowing roads.

The styling is another reason these bikes have become so sought after. Designed by Massimo Tamburini, the 748 shares the iconic shape of the legendary 916, with its slim fairings, single sided swingarm, underseat exhausts and distinctive twin headlights. Its a design that has aged exceptionally well and remains one of the most recognisable superbike silhouettes ever produced.

What makes the 748 SPS particularly appealing is its place in Ducati history. Built in much smaller numbers than the standard 748, it represents a period when Ducati was producing some of its most exciting race inspired road bikes. The SPS models have developed a strong following among enthusiasts who appreciate their mechanical character, specification and connection to Ducatis racing success.

With just 20,576km recorded, this is a great opportunity to own a proper Ducati homologation special. Whether youre looking for a weekend superbike with plenty of character or something special to add to a collection, the 748 SPS is a motorcycle that deserves a closer look.
