Roland TR-727 Drum machine with both the HKA V2 ROM Expansion and the HKA Cymbals Board. The V2 Expansion allows you to change the sounds without re-booting the machine. A much more improved future than the original V1.

The Cymbals Board is also highly recommended. Adds much more fidelity to these wounds.

This 727 is in good condition and comes with a 3rd party 12V PSU.

Check the HKA design design for more in-depth info on these expansions. If you're going to have an expanded TR 707 it is define toy worth having the additional Cymbals board.

This is an add-on board for the TR-727 ROM Expansion, which addresses the shortcoming that it cannot change the last two sounds on the machine (either the crash/ride cymbal on the TR-707, or the quijada/chime on the TR-727). The reason for this is because unlike the rest of the sounds, which are all stored together in one block of memory, the cymbals are stored in their own separate ROMs, with their own address counters and DACs.

NB:

This TR-727 has the recommended optional component change on the mixer board first to improve the frequency response on the star chime voice.

This is because the TR-727 has a much more pronounced hi-pass filter on its star chime voice than the TR-707 does on its equivalent ride cymbal voice, and ride cymbals played back on the TR-727 end up sounding very thin. These changes make the filtering the same as the TR-707’s ride cymbal voice.


1 x C231 (2.2nF) on mixer board replaced with a 10nF polyester or mylar film type. Also 1 x 1uF electrolytic capacitor fitted across C34 on solder side of voicing board. ( See photos )
