Your Responsibilities as a Workshop Controller
As the primary Controller for the site, you will be the lynchpin of the workshop's success, driving efficiency and compliance across all operations in Reading.
Operational Management: Maximise sold hours and efficiency by creating job cards, pre-timing jobs, and intelligently allocating work to technicians.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure 100% sign-off on completed inspections to keep customer Operator's Licenses safe and legal.
Administration & Flow: Monitor and manage workshop loading, accurately issue VOR (Vehicle Off Road) reports, and audit job packs for accurate Admin/invoicing.
Team Leadership: Measure technician performance and activity, driving a first-time fix culture focused on quality and compliance.
Process Adherence: Ensure all workshop processes, including warranty item identification and processing, service checks, and statutory requirements (H&S, vehicle legislation), are rigorously adhered to in Reading.
Requirements for this Leadership Role
To step into this challenging Workshop Controller position in Reading, you will need:
Leadership: Proven experience in a Workshop Controller or supervisory role within a commercial vehicle environment.
Skills: Strong understanding of workshop processes, compliance, and Operator's License responsibilities is essential.
Drive: Ability to lead, inspire, motivate, and manage a team of technicians, focused on delivering efficiency, profitability, and compliance.
IT & Organisation: Excellent organisational and scheduling skills, plus good IT skills (experience with R2C, Truckfile, Kerridge, etc., is advantageous).
