Paint Prep Technician

Paint Prep Specialist

Location – Malvern

E-PPL is a leading specialist contractor providing fully managed, turn-key services to major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across the UK and overseas automotive industry. We are the specialists OEMs call on to support crucial vehicle projects. Our work is dynamic, ranging from carefully planned launch support and build phases to highly reactive quality campaigns addressing immediate production or market needs.

We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Paint Prep Technician to join our team. This hands-on role is critical to achieving the highest quality finish on vehicle components and full vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive bodywork and the precision required to meet the stringent quality standards of major OEMs.

Core Responsibilities

● Surface Preparation & Repair: Meticulously inspect, clean, repair, sand, fill, and smooth all designated vehicle surfaces or parts (including plastic and fiberglass) to ensure a flawless substrate for painting.

● Finishing & Quality Control: Accurately apply primer and masking, and perform rigorous quality checks on all prepped areas to meet E-PPL and client quality standards before releasing the part for paint.

● Maintenance & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, handle materials correctly, and strictly follow all safety and hazardous waste protocols.

● Collaboration: Work effectively with team members and site supervisors to maintain a smooth, efficient workflow and meet project deadlines.

Requirements

● Proven Expertise: Solid experience in automotive bodywork, sanding, and surface preparation. Experience with plastic and fiberglass repair is highly desirable.

● Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using common hand tools and power tools used in body shop environments, with familiarity with various types of primers, fillers, and sealants.

● Quality Focus: Demonstrable strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision necessary to achieve OEM-level quality.

● Work Ethic: Ability to work efficiently and meet demanding production schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications

● High school diploma or equivalent.
