Location: Berkshire

Salary: £28.25 p/h

Hours: 4 on 4 off – 05:00 to 16:00hrs

Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking to step up into a supervisory role, or an established Workshop Supervisor seeking a new challenge in a fast-paced bus engineering environment? We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading UK transport operator for a hands-on Workshop Supervisor to oversee a busy engineering team within their bus garage.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic workshop, enjoys problem-solving, and can balance technical responsibilities with team leadership.

Key Responsibilities of the HGV Workshop Supervisor

* Lead, support, and motivate a team of HGV/PSV Technicians and Fitters within the workshop.

* Carry out hands-on maintenance, servicing, and repair of HGVs/PSVs as required.

* Ensure all vehicles are maintained to DVSA standards and operators’ licence requirements.

* Allocate workloads, monitor productivity, and support technicians with technical queries.

* Oversee defect management, vehicle diagnostics, and repair quality checks.

* Maintain accurate workshop records and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

* Liaise with engineering management regarding fleet performance and maintenance planning.

* Support the implementation of continuous improvement across the workshop.

Required Qualifications & Experience of the Workshop Supervisor

* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.

* Proven experience as an HGV/PSV Technician, preferably with exposure to supervisory or shift-leading duties.

* Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to carry out mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic repairs.

* In-depth knowledge of workshop safety, DVSA standards, and fleet maintenance processes.

* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.

* Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-moving depot environment. xjnqpsq

* Full UK Driving Licence essential; PCV licence desirable (training may be provided).
