Description

My client, a British manufacturer of iconic vehicles, is recruiting a number contract vehicle build technicians due to a busy build period.

This contract is outside IR35.

The Vehicle Build Technician will be responsible for the hands-on assembly and final build of my client’s iconic vehicles. Working as part of a skilled production team, you will be involved in all aspects of vehicle assembly, from trim and mechanical assembly to profiling, panel alignment, and interior trim fitting.

Responsibilities:

* Perform comprehensive vehicle preparation, assembly, and build, including trim and final assembly phases.

* Execute both mechanical and electrical assembly tasks with precision.

* Assemble components and sub-assemblies, building essential vehicle parts and systems from scratch.

* Complete whole vehicle builds using a bay-build discipline, ensuring consistent quality and assembly standards.

* Conduct profiling, panel alignment, and gapping to meet exacting standards of vehicle fit and finish.

* Install part and full interior trim packages, enhancing the vehicle’s aesthetic and functional appeal.

* Identify and log any build issues, suggesting improvements for engineering and production teams.

* Interpret engineering drawings accurately to guide assembly and ensure quality control.

* Utilise a variety of handheld tools for assembly work and ensure the handling of precision components.

* Apply fabrication and welding skills, if experienced, for specialised build tasks.

Requirements:

* Proven experience in vehicle build, assembly, or a similar hands-on technical role.

* Familiarity with interpreting engineering drawings and working with precision components.

* Proficiency with handheld tools and assembly techniques for automotive builds.

* Background in fabrication and welding (advantageous but not essential).

* Attention to detail, pride in craftsmanship, and commitment to quality.

* Ability to work within a dynamic, scaling production environment
