A wonderful opportunity for an experienced and polished Domestic Couple to join a beautifully run private country estate in Northamptonshire, principally used by the family at weekends.

Set within a working estate and farm producing its own fresh seasonal produce, this is a particularly appealing role for a professional couple who enjoy country life whilst being part of an established and well-supported household team.

The successful couple will take responsibility for the interior care and smooth day-to-day running of the household, with responsibilities broadly divided between Head Housekeeper and Driver/Cook/Butler. You will work alongside an Estate Manager, two full-time Housekeepers and a part-time Housekeeper, together with the wider estate team. The family's London Chef also joins the household on occasion when guests are in residence.

The main residence, together with a number of guest properties within the estate, must be beautifully presented and maintained to an immaculate standard at all times. Duties will include hands-on housekeeping, laundry and ironing, wardrobe care, household inventories and stock control, organising grocery orders and deliveries and liaising with the family's PA regarding household purchases.

The second half of the couple should be a confident and accomplished home cook, happy to prepare delicious fresh meals for the principals when required. The family particularly enjoy Italian and Asian food and, with wonderful fresh produce available from the estate itself, this could be a lovely role for someone who genuinely enjoys cooking. Responsibilities will also include driving, care of the household vehicles, liaising with contractors and traditional butler-style duties including fires, drinks and service when the family are in residence.

The family have a much-loved dog and the couple will also share responsibility for its care. The dog will stay overnight with the couple in their accommodation when the principals are at the estate.

This position would particularly suit a discreet, proactive and exceptionally well-organised couple with previous experience within a high-calibre private household. You should be natural self-starters with an excellent eye for detail, but equally enjoy working collaboratively as part of an established team.

A fabulous four-bedroom private cottage on the estate is provided, with utility bills included, and the family will consider a couple with their own dog.

Working days: Wednesday–Sunday or Thursday–Monday, with two consecutive weekdays off

Hours: Approximately 8.00am–5.00pm when the principals are away, with flexibility for longer hours when the family are in residence at weekends

Driving: At least one of the couple must be a confident driver

Salary: £80,000–£90,000 gross per annum, negotiable according to experience
