Description

An exceptional opportunity for an experienced and capable Domestic Couple sought for a stunning sporting estate in the Scottish Highlands, playing a central role in the smooth and successful operation of this traditional estate. The position combines two complementary roles — Head Housekeeper / Lodge Host and Estate Maintenance — supporting both Syre Lodge (fully catered) and Dalvina Lodge (self-catering). Syre Lodge is a beautifully refurbished and substantial property accommodating up to ten guests in outstanding comfort, comprising two double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms, two single bedrooms, three bathrooms and a shower room (all bedrooms located on the first floor), in addition to a dining room, large drawing room, sitting room, conservatory and study, all enjoying breathtaking views across the Strath. The lodge is typically let to groups of 6–12 guests on a weekly basis (Sunday changeover) throughout the fishing season. Working six days per week on a full-time basis during the season (typically commencing around 7:00am and concluding after evening service at approximately 8:pm with some downtime during the day), flexibility is essential in line with guest occupancy. The Head Housekeeper / Lodge Host will take responsibility for the day-to-day running and presentation of the lodges during guest stays, managing housekeeping and laundry to impeccable standards, coordinating the assistant housekeeper and cook (including rotas and evening service), preparing and serving breakfast for 8–10 guests from 7:30am (including tea and coffee service), clearing and resetting the dining room, supporting lunch and formal dinner service (typically 9-10pm), overseeing smooth weekly changeovers and acting as the main point of contact for guests before and throughout their stay. This role requires discretion, warmth, professionalism and the ability to deliver a seamless, high-quality lodge experience in close collaboration with the Head Ghillie and Estate Factor. The Estate Maintenance and General Assistant will support the upkeep and presentation of estate buildings and grounds, carrying out routine maintenance, minor repairs and improvements, basic plumbing, joinery and decorating within skill level, grounds maintenance including grass cutting, hedge trimming, fencing, drainage and paths, assisting with lodge changeovers and preparation works, supporting contractors, responding to seasonal tasks such as storm response or snow clearance, running errands and shopping, undertaking general DIY duties, and providing additional support to lodge operations during busy periods. At least one partner must hold a full UK driving licence and be a confident driver (own car required). This role would suit a practical, reliable and adaptable couple who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in their surroundings, are confident engaging with guests, and are comfortable living and working in a remote rural estate environment as part of a small, supportive team. Previous experience in housekeeping, hospitality, estates or similar practical roles is essential, alongside strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a positive, can-do attitude. Experience within a sporting estate, guest accommodation, private households or trade skills (plumbing, joinery, electrical etc.) would be highly advantageous. On-estate accommodation is provided in a modern, recently renovated two-bedroom bungalow located approximately half a mile from the lodge (bills covered excluding heating oil and electricity costs). Dependants considered. Offering a salary of £70,000gpa. Interviews to commence immediately for an ASAP start. Offering the role on a seasonal basis from March - September with the high potential of a long-term, permanent all year round position.
