Description
Urgent rehoming needed!
Heartbreakingly we have to find Rocky a new home. We haven’t had him long but sadly our housing situation has changed drastically and we’re unable to keep Rocky with us. We only have 9 days until we have to move out, we’ve tried looking for family/friends but no one can help. Rehoming centres are full but Rocky deserves to be with a family who can give him the time and love he needs.
Rocky is an 18 month old Staffordshire bull terrier cross with an American bull dog. He still needs to be neutered.
Rocky does have separation anxiety that will require some time and patience, he is on medication for this but there are other ways he could be helped. When taking him to the vets for this concern, they examined him and said he was healthy.
Rocky is a loveable boy, he wants to be around people all the time. He originally came from a home with lots of children and is gentle with them, he can sometimes jump up out of excitement but this tends to be with older children. Most of the time he loves to sleep and cuddle up to you, but he can also really excitable in short bursts. When he’s excited he can either just jump up and want attention or sometimes he gets the zoomies.
He knows some commands (sit, paw, in, bed, wait) he does these most of the time, indoors his concentration is a lot better, outdoors on walks he can struggle because of distractions. On walks he is really strong and does pull on the lead. He hasn’t had a lot of off lead training/recall. Rocky is trained to use the toilet outside but if suffering from his separation anxiety he can have accidents.
He hasn't had a lot of socialisation with other dogs, we haven’t had first hand experience of him with another dog so I can’t say how he would be. When seeing them on walks he will pull a lot and want to get near them and may whine when pulled away, he doesn’t bark at other dogs though when near them. Rocky doesn’t like cats!
Rocky needs a home with people who can spend lots of time with him and give him the attention and love he truly deserves. He is such a loveable character, we wish it could have worked out but sadly we can’t take Rocky with us when we move.
