Obi is a poodle cross (gumtree doesn’t have this category)

Obi, 5 year old neutered male springer x poodle dog
He is more poodle in his nature in the house and on a walk.

✅ Obi is a clever dog and learns very quickly, he has a calm and quiet nature and spends most of his time sleeping in the house
✅ Obi is great with other dogs very neutral he can live with other dogs and accepts all dogs . He is not dog-playful and would prefer to co-exist rather than play all day
✅ Obi walks well on a lead he is not reactive to people or dogs outside of the home
✅Obi has great recall and very low prey drive he has encountered deer and rabbits and his spaniel brain is yet to engage with them
✅ Obi currently lives with a cat and could live with a calm , dog-savvy cat
❌ Obi has resource guarding issues around objects he may steal- he has shown great improvement with training and his new home must be very clear with ongoing training for Obi and this will continue to resolve
❌Obi does not like being handled for treatment/grooming or examined and will snap. He is muzzle trained and is learning to walk away when he doesn’t like something. He is very happy to be stroked, on his terms . He approaches strangers for a fuss and is comfortable being touched in a “friendly” way
His new owner must be prepared to continue training around his handling
❌ Obi can be anxious when left alone but is learning to accept his crate and can be left for 3-4 hours after a good walk. he is showing great improvement already but would not be suitable for someone working full time

Obi would make a lovely companion and is a delight to walk . he enjoys busier areas as well as hill/forest walks. He loves cafes and pubs and sits quietly at your feet and is very friendly to people and dogs he meets in this setting. he would be happiest living with another dog or 2

Due to his temperament he cannot be homed with children under 16.

I feel with continued support and training Obis behaviour would certainly continue to improve . Someone with dog experience and the time and patience to bring him on would have a lovely companion with Obi. he is a very loyal dog

Obi is currently in Strathspey but can be transported for the right home.
