Description
This is Exter, he’s a German Shepherd x Husky x Labrador, currently 1 year old (will be 2 in April). He weighs around 35kg and is a big, strong, affectionate boy.
He’s up to date with vaccinations, flea & tick treatment, microchipped, fully house trained, crate trained (can be left alone up to 6 hours in or out of the crate), travels well in the car, is very intelligent and knows lots of tricks.
Temperament — Friendly and loving with people (can be a little wary of some men at first, but is absolutely fine after a proper introduction). Good with other dogs and cats (currently lives with cats). Boisterous, playful and sometimes unaware of his size, so I’d prefer a home with older children only who understand boundaries, as he can get a bit mouthy when excited.
Training & exercise — Recall is good unless distracted by other dogs or people (he wants to say hello!) Walks better on a head collar but does still pull on the lead, with consistent training this can improve. Very outdoorsy and active, he needs daily exercise and mental stimulation. Would suit someone with large dog experience. Could live with another dog (this is preferred, as he’s always lived with one).
No health issues but must be on a grain-free diet as grain causes skin irritation and itchiness.
Reason for rehoming — Due to unavoidable changes in my work commitments and a sudden house move from a home with a garden to a flat with no garden, I can no longer meet Exter’s exercise and outdoor needs. This decision has not been made lightly, and finding the right home for him is my absolute priority.
Ideal home — Experienced with larger energetic breeds, secure garden or regular access to outdoor space, active lifestyle, older children only and ideally another dog for company.
A rehoming fee applies and home checks will be carried out.
I’m more than happy to travel to meet the right person/family.
