This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.

Boru is coming up to 5 years old. He’s been with me since he was a 3-month-old puppy and I am his first and only owner. He is not “just a dog” to me – he’s been my companion through years of life, and I love him deeply.

Boru is an extremely high-energy dog. He needs constant physical and mental stimulation – long walks, runs, play, structure, and engagement every single day. He will happily match breeds like a Belgian Malinois for drive and energy. If you’re a “walk around the block” type of owner, this dog is not for you.

Over the last few months, my circumstances have changed significantly. I now have a newborn baby, and my responsibilities have shifted in a way that means Boru is no longer getting the time, attention, and consistency he truly deserves. I can see that this is affecting him, and it’s not fair to ask him to adapt to a life that doesn’t suit his needs.

This decision is not being made lightly or out of convenience. I’ve gone above and beyond for Boru for nearly five years, but loving him also means being honest about what’s best for him long-term.

I am looking for a forever home, not a quick handover. Ideally, I’d like a potential new owner to:

Visit Boru multiple times

Spend time walking and bonding with him

Build trust before any rehoming takes place

I will not rehome him unless I’m confident he’s going to a person who understands high-drive dogs and can genuinely give him the life he deserves – full of adventure, structure, and purpose.
