The Nikon COOLPIX P1100 is a superzoom digital bridge camera released in February 2025. It is the successor to the Nikon COOLPIX P1000 and retains the same 125x optical zoom lens, which is the camera's key feature.
Key features
Extreme telephoto zoom: The P1100 has a NIKKOR lens with a 125x optical zoom, giving it a 35mm equivalent focal range of 24–3000mm. This allows photographers to capture extremely distant subjects, from detailed moonscapes to faraway wildlife. Dynamic Fine Zoom can extend the range even further, up to 250x (6000mm equivalent).
4K video recording: The camera can record 4K UHD video at 30p and Full HD (1080p) at up to 60p. It includes features like Superlapse and Time-lapse movie modes.
Image sensor and processor: It uses a 16-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor and Nikon's EXPEED image-processing engine. The sensor is a smaller 1/2.3-inch type, which can affect image quality in low light.
Improved connectivity: An upgrade from its predecessor, the P1100 now includes a USB-C port for faster charging and data transfer, as well as Bluetooth 5.2 and WPA3-SAE Wi-Fi.
Vibration reduction: The Dual Detect Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) system helps stabilize shots when shooting handheld, especially at longer telephoto focal lengths. According to DPReview, the P1100's performance is identical to the P1000, but is now rated at 4.0 stops due to a change in CIPA's testing standard.
Intuitive controls: An ergonomic design with a deep grip provides a stable hold. A side zoom control and a customizable control ring allow for quick adjustments to settings.
Built-in shooting modes: Dedicated modes, including "Bird-watching," "Moon," and a new "Fireworks Show" mode, optimize camera settings for specific types of shots.
