Vintage Atari 1040 STE - 1MB. In excellent condition: A Multimedia Pioneer of the 16-bit Era.

Description

This Atari STe is in clean and excellent cosmetic condition and was manufactured in Taiwan. Badged a 520STe, it has been upgraded to 1040Kb (1MB) of soldered memory, memory increase being the only difference between the 520STe and the 1040STe.

This Atari 1040 STe comes with:-
Atari ST Owner's Manual in good condition - not dog-eared.
Atari ST BASIC Quick Reference Guide.
Atari STe Addendum.
An original Atari Mouse.
A Datel Geniscan GS-4500 Handy Scanner & Software.
Atari to TV Scart lead.
Atari to TV RF lead.
A Joystick.
A mains power cable.


The machine is in general working order.
I had to pull the earlier advert as the disk drive gave up just after posting the ad.
These machines are coming up to 40 years old so a drive failing was not really unexpected.
New drive fitted and the case modified to suit - see picture.
I haven't checked all the disks but those I have, are all working with backup disks where necessary.
The case and keyboard show little to no sign of yellowing.
Disk drive formats disks OK using Fastcopy III and from the A:Floppy Disk>File>Format option on the desktop.
Mouse and joystick ports working, dismantled and re-soldered as plugging in and out of these ports over time causes solder to break.
All keys are present and correct.
No screws missing holding the case together.
Memory check shows no errors.
System Information identifies the machine as a 1040STE with 1MB RAM.
Opening the pictures in a dedicated picture program, displays the photos in a much better light.


Software
Atari STe start-up disk with programs mentioned in the STe addendum,
plus Control Panel, Joystick Tester, Memory tester, System Info and RAM disk programs.
The RAMDisk is particularly useful if you need to copy a number of programs to a disk without having to keep swapping round disks for each program.
