I strongly recommend avoiding this company based on our recent experience with their man-and-van service.
The driver arrived 1 hour and 44 minutes late (which he insisted this was the time he called us of his arrival although it took him another 6mins to actually park and come up to the flat where the first he asked is where our toilet is!). Although we were informed about the delay an hour before the scheduled time, the overall experience quickly deteriorated after his arrival. The driver did not assist with moving items out of our flat, appeared to work very slowly and throughout the process, showed little initiative or professionalism.
When the van was loaded, the driver refused to leave until he was paid in cash, despite our explaining that the payment would be made at the delivery address. It took considerable discussion before he agreed to proceed. Upon arrival at the new property, he again refused to open the van until he received the cash payment. After paying for the agreed 2-hour minimum fee, he allowed for us to start unloading as there was around 30mins left but closed his van again when the 2-hour period was reached. He demanded additional payment, insisting he would not unload the van until more cash was provided. Even after confirming that we would pay for any extra time, he still refused to begin unloading until he saw the money in hand.
The driver’s attitude throughout was unprofessional. When we contacted the company’s office to report the situation, the response we received was equally dismissive. Eventually, the driver began unloading items but left many of them on the pavement, refusing to carry them into the house. When asked why, he replied that his job was only to “load and unload,” not to move items into the property as with his words, ‘I have no energy for that’. The company later defended this behaviour, claiming the driver had “done his job.”
After leaving, the driver realised he had forgotten his trolley at the previous flat and returned to collect it. He also decided to drop off a few remaining items from the previous location which we thought was a good gesture, but instead of delivering them properly, he left them on the pavement, one box even ripping open. He then said rudely when he saw one of us “this is what you paid for” and swore before driving off.
We again reported this to the company, but they dismissed our complaint and denied the driver’s behaviour.
In summary, this experience was stressful, unprofessional, and poorly managed from both the driver and the company’s customer service team. For anyone planning a move, I would strongly suggest choosing a provider that values professionalism, accountability, and basic respect for its customers — even if it costs a little more.
