Site Manager MEICA / Water InfrastructureRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the delivery of MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) works across water infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for day-to-day site operations, working closely with the Project Manager and wider project team to ensure works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards.
The role will involve coordinating subcontractors and site resources, managing project programmes, monitoring costs and ensuring all installation activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation, technical specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Site and Project ManagementManage day-to-day site activities to ensure the successful delivery of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works.
Liaise with clients and project stakeholders, providing progress updates and resolving site-related issues.
Monitor and manage the site programme, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are achieved.
Identify potential delays and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
Monitor site expenditure, manage costs and support the control of project budgets.
Manage variations and assist with commercial matters relating to site activities.
Coordinate subcontractors, engineers and site operatives to maintain productivity and ensure efficient delivery.
Oversee the procurement and availability of materials, equipment and resources in line with project requirements.
2. Health, Safety and Environmental ManagementTake responsibility for maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across the site.
Ensure site activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015.
Review and implement risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
Ensure safe working practices are followed during mechanical, electrical and instrumentation installation activities.
Monitor site compliance through regular inspections and engagement with site personnel.
Promote a proactive safety culture and address any unsafe practices or potential hazards.
Ensure appropriate site documentation, permits and safety records are maintained.
3. Quality Assurance and Installation ManagementEnsure all installation works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications and relevant industry standards.
Inspect and monitor mechanical, electrical and instrumentation installations throughout the construction phase.
Coordinate quality inspections and ensure any defects or non-conformances are identified and rectified.
Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, test results and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) documentation.
Ensure installations are completed, inspected and tested before handover.
Coordinate with commissioning teams to ensure completed works are ready for commissioning.
Support the formal handover of completed installations, ensuring all required quality documentation is in place.
Requirements and QualificationsProven experience as a Site Manager or in a similar site delivery role within the construction, engineering or infrastructure sectors.
Demonstrable experience delivering MEICA works within the water industry or a closely related infrastructure environment.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical installation activities, including instrumentation and control systems.
Knowledge of construction methods, site management practices and health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015.
Familiarity with WIMES (Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications) and relevant technical standards.
Experience managing subcontractors, site teams, project programmes and installation quality.
Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to monitor progress, manage site issues and deliver work to agreed deadlines.
Competence in using project management, reporting and scheduling software.
Relevant CertificationsSMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
CSCS Black Card or an equivalent relevant qualification.
First Aid at Work qualification, preferably the three-day course where required.
Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
Mandatory Requirement Thames Water Safety PassportMust hold a valid, in-date Thames Water Safety Passport.
Candidates must have the appropriate passport and any required site-specific authorisations in place before commencing work on site.
Role SummaryThis is an opportunity for an experienced Site Manager with a strong MEICA background to take ownership of site delivery on water infrastructure projects, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required technical and quality standards.
The role will suit someone who can confidently manage subcontractors, coordinate installation activities, maintain programme progress and work collaboratively with project teams through to commissioning and handover.
Essential: Previous MEICA water industry experience and a valid, in-date Thames Water Safety Passport.
