The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Estimator to join an established construction contractor, working on a diverse portfolio of projects valued up to 70 million.

The project portfolio encompasses both new-build and refurbishment schemes, including cut-and-carve, structural alterations, extensions and complex redevelopment projects across a range of sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in the pre-construction process, developing competitive tenders and providing accurate cost advice from initial enquiry through to submission.

Working closely with pre-construction, commercial and operational teams, you will contribute to tender strategy, identify commercial risks and opportunities, and help secure new projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the preparation and submission of tenders for construction schemes valued up to 70m. Price a varied portfolio of new-build, refurbishment, cut-and-carve and redevelopment projects. Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to establish project scope and pricing requirements. Prepare detailed estimates, cost plans, quantity take-offs and pricing schedules. Obtain, analyse and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations. Identify commercial risks, opportunities, exclusions and value-engineering options. Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the tender process. Work collaboratively with pre-construction, commercial and operational teams to develop competitive bids. Manage multiple tender deadlines and ensure submissions are accurate and commercially robust. Attend tender reviews and support the handover of successful projects to delivery teams. About You

Proven experience as a Senior Estimator or experienced Estimator within the construction industry. Experience pricing projects across a mix of new-build and refurbishment works, ideally including cut-and-carve schemes. Exposure to sectors such as commercial, residential, mixed-use, education, healthcare or other complex building projects. Strong understanding of construction methods, procurement, subcontract packages and cost planning. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and complex tender requirements. Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify and manage project risks. Confident negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing. Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
