The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Passive Fire Protection Specialist holding a valid IPAF ticket, looking for a high-earning commercial contract in Wearside?

Search Consultancy is recruiting a skilled Fire Stopper for an active, ongoing commercial development in Sunderland. Offering a top-tier rate of 27.00 per hour (CIS), this role provides high weekly earnings and steady project continuity for a qualified operative working at height.

If you hold a valid CSCS card, an active IPAF license for powered access, and have a proven background in fire-stopping installations, we want to hear from you.

Your Role & Responsibilities

Working from powered access platforms on a live commercial site, you will execute high-level fire-stopping penetration seals to strict fire safety specifications:

High-Level Fire Stopping: Accessing elevated soffits, structural steelwork, and high-level penetrations safely via MEWPs to fit fire batt, intumescent pillows, and mastic seals.

Penetration & Cavity Sealing: Installing fire-rated batt, mastic, collars, wraps, and compound around service penetrations across walls, floors, and linear joints.

IPAF Operations: Safely operating scissor lifts (3a) and cherry pickers (3b) in accordance with site regulations and IPAF safety guidelines.

Quality & Compliance: Delivering fully compliant, airtight, and certified fire seals that satisfy building control and site inspection standards.

Documentation: Assisting with digital QA logging, pin-pointing, or tagging of completed fire-stopped seals where required.

Requirements & Qualifications

To satisfy site entry and passive fire safety compliance standards, all applicants must possess:

CSCS Card: A valid Blue or Gold CSCS Card (NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection preferred) is strictly mandatory.

IPAF Ticket: A valid IPAF License (Categories 3a & 3b) for powered access platform operation is strictly required.

Trade Expertise: Proven track record in passive fire stopping across commercial or industrial developments.

Tools & Kit: Full specialist applicator kit (mastic guns, battery tools, serrated knives, measuring kit) and standard 5-point PPE (including full safety harness & lanyard for MEWP work).

Transport: Reliable transport to commute to the site in Sunderland daily.

Right to Work: Valid proof of right to work in the UK.
