Description
Estimating Engineer - senior opportunity for an Estimating Engineer in this precision engineering and fabrications company. You will play a key role in delivering accurate quotations and tender submissions. You'll determine manufacturing costs and lead times for customer RFQs, working closely with Engineering, Purchasing/Procurement and site teams to ensure bids are competitive, compliant and commercially sound. You'll also act as a key commercial interface between the business and its customers.
Key responsibilities
Estimate manufacturing and selling costs for CNC 3/4/5-axis milling and turning work packagesEstimate manufacturing and selling costs for formed and sheet metal parts, including minor assembly where requiredObtain material, bought-out items and treatment prices and lead times (working with suppliers and procurement)Select the best machine tools for parts and check capacity and routingsProduce accurate costings aligned to customer requirements, quality expectations and delivery timescalesSupport the Bid/No Bid process and prioritise workload effectivelyConfidently read and assess engineering drawings; interpret 3D models using relevant viewersPrepare and submit quotes/tenders, ensuring bids are fully compliant with RFP requirementsUpdate and maintain the bid register, using data to improve win rate and process performanceRemain compliant with company processes and procedures; support continuous improvement
Essential skills & experience
Proven experience in estimating/costing (essential)Background in aerospace or precision engineering (essential)Strong estimating knowledge across CNC milling/turning and sheet metalExperience working with Titanium, Aluminium and SteelProficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and CATIAProactive, deadline-driven, excellent communicator with strong stakeholder managementThis is a permanent job with a starting salary dependant on experience.
